(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after a string of copper wire thefts and break-ins in Lanark County and the surrounding area.
The thefts began in the fall of 2024, with numerous incidents of wires being cut and removed as well as a break-in at an industrial building in Perth.
The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, working with the Lanark County Detachment and the OPP Canine unit, executed a warrant at a residence in Tay Valley Township on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Officers recovered a large amount of copper wire and copper pipes, as well as a crossbow, break and enter tools and a small amount of methamphetamine.
John PIGEON, age 34 of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5000
- Mischief under $5000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Fail to comply with a probation order- two counts
- Fail to comply with a release order
- Fail to comply with an undertaking
- Break and enter
- Possession of schedule I substance
Jessica WATSON, age 22 of Lanark Highlands Township, has been charged with:
· Possession of schedule I substance
· Fail to comply with an undertaking – two counts
Both accused were held for bail and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth today (March 12, 2025).
