(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing impaired by drug charge after traffic stop in Thames Centre.
On March 9, 2025, at 12:09 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Highway 401 in Thames Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle travelling in the Eastbound lanes.
A traffic stop was initiated.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result, Samantha AUSTIN, a 31-year-old of Middlesex Centre, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Highway Traffic Act with:
· Operation while impaired – drugs
· Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
· Drive motor vehicle – no licence
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 25, 2025.
The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
